“The Liu Institute for Global Issues is located in the heart of UBC’s Point Grey Campus. Surrounded by lush forestland, the Institute is based in an award winning building designed by Architectura in association with famed architect Arthur Erickson.
Generously funded by the Liu family, the Institute is an ideal location for your next corporate retreat, meeting or small conference. We offer VIDEO-CONFERENCING in all our venues.”
The Institute is located between Gates 4 and 5 in the northwest corner of the UBC campus.
The Liu Centre is located at the edge of a densely wooded site next to the International House at the corner of N W Marine Drive and West Mall. It has principal entrances facing each of these streets which both open onto a common lobby and reception area. While the N W Marine Drive entrance is the official street address, most visitors will use the West Mall entrance, which is connected to the campus network of pedestrian paths. The building is arranged in an ‘H’ plan, with its two distinct wings Seminar Wing and Research Wing connected by a glazed lobby. This formation creates two courtyards and allows for a great deal of light penetration and cross ventilation in the building.
