Firehall Arts Centre

The Firehall Arts Centre houses a 136 – 175, flexible seat studio theatre. The venue is available for rental and inquiries should be made approximately six months in advance. It is possible on occasion to book the space for shorter rental periods with less lead time.

On the upper floor of the Firehall Arts Centre, a large rehearsal studio with dance barres, mirrors and a marlee dance floor is also available for rent and can be used for various activities including performance. Studio inquiries can be made at any time for daily or hourly rentals but as with the theatre, should be made well in advance for longer time periods.

The facility is very active, so do your best to inquire as soon as possible if you are in need of space. Please call 604.689.0691 or email abenson@firehallartscentre.ca for rates and information. Due to the large volume of inquiries received, rental inquiries must be submitted in writing. Send us your proposed project and rental schedule by email, fax or mail. **Submissions are assessed by the Artistic Producer in an effort to maintain consistency in programming on behalf of our patrons and for the benefit of our rental clients.

Bear Creek Gardens

You cannot book or reserve the park – so it is a first come first serve basis.

The Garden in Bear Creek Park is one of Surrey’s finest, filled with horticultural treasures that offer new interest throughout the year.

Located within Bear Creek Park on 88th Avenue, east of King George Highway in Surrey, the 5-acre gardens along with other park facilities are open from dawn to dusk daily.

Surrounded by a second-growth forest of Cottonwoods, Alders and Western Red Cedars, the garden site was originally cleared and seeded in 1973. The following year, three bridges and footpaths were constructed. Original plantings included a Rhododendron Bed, Heather Bed, Conifer Bed and several mixed horticultural areas. Little expansion took place until 1989, when funds became available to proceed with a Native Walk featuring plants of the Pacific Northwest, a watercourse and pond.

Surrey Museum

Stage your next event in the home of Surrey’s history! Located in the heart of Cloverdale, the Surrey Museum’s eye-catching new building is a unique spot for social events, business meetings and workshops. The building’s soaring ceiling, naturally lit spaces, and elegantly curved staircase with its colourful silk exhibit provide a dramatic and unexpected setting for your next gathering.

London Heritage Farm

London Heritage Farm is a 4.06 acre historical site that overlooks the south arm of the Fraser River. The site offers a 1880’s farmhouse in a park-like setting with lovely heritage and herb gardens, the restored Spragg family barn, old farming equipment, a small hand tool museum, chickens, bees, allotments and large lawns as well as picnic tables and public washrooms.

The London farmhouse has been fully restored and furnished to reflect life in Richmond during the 1880 to 1930 era. Six rooms display the furniture, pictures, clothing, quilts and everyday articles of the era and the many London family photographs that hang throughout the house give you a glimpse into their history as one of the pioneer farming families of Richmond. It’s highly likely that you will also see something that reminds you of your family history too.

Historic Stewart Farm

Built in 1894 by Surrey pioneer John Stewart for his family, this charming restored Victorian farmhouse features a wrap-around verandah, an elegant parlour and dining room, and a wonderful warm kitchen with a working wood burning stove. Visitors can enjoy heritage activities, crafts and home baking. Costumed tour guides are happy to escort you through this elegant home.

The Stanley Theatre

The legendary Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage is a newly renovated art deco theatre that originally opened in 1931 as a cinema and Vaudeville House. Now beautifully updated, this 650-seat theatre has been home to musicals such as My Fair Lady, Swing and Sweeny Todd, revitalized classics such as Hamlet, and comedies ranging from Easy Money to Art. The restoration of the venue received a 1999 City of Vancouver Heritage Award

Old Mill Boathouse

The Old Mill Boathouse, located at Rocky Point Park in beautiful Port Moody, BC, is available for rental. Enjoy the pristine setting with beautiful views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains. Centrally located, 20 minutes from downtown, Maple Ridge, Burnaby and in the heart of ‘residential’ Vancouver. Combine your meeting or event with some kayaking or a boat cruise with pickup/drop off at the Rocky Point boat launch facilities.

The Great Room has a fireplace and exposed heavy fir beams that create a cathedral like feeling to the space. The 1500 square foot banquet hall has a maximum seating capacity of 100 people and is equipped with full kitchen, including Fridge, Stove, Oven, Microwave, Dishwasher, Sinks, etc. This room is appropriate for weddings, banquets, reunions, birthday parties, and meetings.

The concept for the Old Mill Boathouse began with the formation of the Port Moody Canoe Club and the Centennial Sailing Association in the late ’60s and early 70’s. For over 30 years, a core of members worked diligently for a water sports centre for Port Moody. Their hard work paid off with the approval of city council for the establishment of a non-powered small craft centre in 1999. The plans were laid out and the sod turned in July 2001. The building was officially opened May 2002. The building captures the history of the area by using 100 year old fir beam trusses in the ceiling from the original McNair Millsite.

The operation of the building is funded entirely by rentals and the users and is managed by the Old Mill Boathouse Society, a non-profit organization promoting paddling, rowing and sailing.
